Hi. I constantly get Blue Screens of Death, code f4, indicating that "critical process died", whenever I try and install any programs or games to my SSD. It is my only drive. I believe I have tried everything. It has been about 2 years dealing with this issue, since purchasing this drive.

I have tried on all OS, Windows 7 and 8.1 Pro.
I have updated all drivers.
I have checked connections.
I ran diagnostics.
I am out of ideas besides buying a new SSD from another manufacturer.

Anyone help please?

Hi,

Have you updated the firmware on the SSD since you purchased it?
What is the firmware on the drive, you can check in device manager/disk drives/mknssd.../details/hardware Ids

Hi Sean. Yes, I did it from the Mushkin fieldupdater program. It did not fix the problem. I will check on the version when I get home. But I have always updated it regularly.

I even ran disk check and found no errors on the drive. It is whenever trying to install a larger program or video game that I receive that BSOD message. Memtest reveals no issues with memory. It is not a disk space issue either, since I have over 180 gb free.

Lets see what the firmware is, if it is older that could be the problem.

I missed that you were on a socket 2011 mobo, use Crystal disk info to see what the firmware is now

I believe I have found a solution! I opened my case and switched sata ports. I plugged the sata cable into the asmedia sata port with the Marvel controller vs the Intel x79 sata port. This has so far fixed the issue. I have been able install many programs without incident. Anyways, thanks for the quick responses Sean.
