TOPIC: MKNSSDCR240GB read on Mac no faster than 210MB/s

MKNSSDCR240GB read on Mac no faster than 210MB/s 4 months 1 week ago #2327

I just bought this drive to put in my Mac Mini late 2012. This mac does have SATA III. The system profiler detects the link as 6Gb/s. The problem is my read speeds go no higher than 210MB/s and write never hits 200. I can't flash the firmware since I don't have a windows box. I booted to parted magic to use linux for flashing but the drive doesn't appear in the updater software.... I'm assuming this is because AHCI issue with the Mac and linux drivers?. I'm not even positive that firmware is the issue or what firmware version that it currently has.

Is there anything anyone knows of that might get these speeds where I need them? These speeds are slower than SATA II drives... or about the same depending. :(

This is a fresh Mavericks 10.9.4 install

Any help would be appreciated.

Hi,

For this drive that is a normal speed to get in the Black Magic Design benchmark.
Advertised up to read and write speeds are obtained with ATTO, which is a Windows benchmark, the comparable benchmark for OS X would be Quickbench.
