Just got the Ventura Plus 64GB on the product package the claim is made that the drive is "USB 3.0 compliant and USB 2.0 compatible."

After testing in XP, Vista, Win7 & Win 8 on USB 2.0 ports and trying it in a Blu-Ray player and a DVD player that both do divx which both use USB 2.0, the drive is NOT USB 2 compatible.

My everyday desktop is win 7 x64 and the board is ASUS Rampage 4, ONLY WORKS ON USB 3.0.

I tried it as NTFS and as exFAT formats, no dice.

Hi,

The Ventura should work in a USB2 port, all USB drives are backwards compatible.
Lots of people with older mobos that only have USB2 ports have used the Ventura without problems.

This drive does not work at all on a USB2 port even on the Rampage?

The drive works on the Rampage board, only on the USB 3.0 ports, but none of the USB 2 ports on the mainboard back or the mid-board connectors.

I additionally tested on more systems.

None of the USB 2.0 ports on two different Dell Inspiron 1520s (one on Vista and one on Win 7).

None of the USB 2.0 ports on two different Dell Inspirons (again one on Vista and one on Win 7).

None of the USB 2.0 ports on a new HP laptop with windows 8, it has one USB 3.0 that one worked.

None of the USB 2.0 ports on any of the systems.

That is so strange, the drive should just work on a USB2 port. I could see XP having issues reading the drive in exFAT, until the exFAT update was installed, but on the other Vista and W7 systems it should be no problem at all.

Certainly something weird with that drive, probably best to get it replaced.
Start a support ticket here and we'll get that drive replaced.
